Etihad Rail Fines and Safety Rules: What Passengers Need to Know

Sun, Jul 5, 2026(13h ago)UAE

The UAE’s highly anticipated passenger rail service has officially launched, connecting Abu Dhabi and Fujairah and marking a significant milestone in the country’s infrastructure. With over 10,000 tickets sold before the inaugural journey, excitement for the scenic commute is high. However, to ensure a smooth and safe experience for everyone, Etihad Rail has implemented a strict code of conduct. Passengers are advised to remain mindful of their behavior, as violating these travel regulations can lead to substantial fines ranging from Dh200 to Dh10,000.

Common infractions like littering, putting feet on seats, or traveling without a valid ticket carry a penalty of Dh200, while more serious disruptions—such as abusive behavior, smoking, or unauthorized photography—can result in fines of Dh500. For those who compromise safety, the consequences are much steeper; acts such as trespassing, tampering with safety equipment, vandalizing property, or interfering with train doors can incur fines of up to Dh5,000. Ultimately, the authority reserves the right to impose fines of up to Dh10,000 for any other unspecified offenses, depending on the severity of the incident. Passengers are encouraged to follow crew instructions at all times to avoid these penalties and ensure a pleasant journey.
