Temporary Road Closures at Dubai Mall Metro Station

Sun, Jul 5, 2026(12h ago)UAE

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has officially announced the temporary closure of the taxi and bus service access road at the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station. This closure, which is scheduled to remain in effect through the end of 2026, is a necessary step to accommodate a significant expansion project at one of the city's busiest transit hubs. To manage the flow of commuters, the RTA has implemented a comprehensive traffic plan, advising passengers to pay close attention to on-site directional signage and to allow extra time for their daily travels while construction is underway.

This ambitious upgrade is designed to boost the station's passenger capacity by an impressive 65 percent, effectively raising its hourly throughput from 7,250 to 12,320 people. Once completed, the station will be capable of handling up to 220,000 passengers daily, which will significantly alleviate congestion during major events and public holidays. While the specific service road will be reserved exclusively for construction vehicles for the duration of the project, the RTA has provided alternative parking solutions and traffic diversions to ensure that visitors and residents can continue to navigate the area with as little disruption as possible.
