UAE Schools Celebrate Outstanding IB Results Amid Unique Examination Circumstances
As the results for the May 2026 International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations begin to roll in, schools across the UAE are marking a period of significant academic success. Early reports indicate that local students have largely outperformed global averages, with numerous institutions celebrating exceptional achievements, including several pupils who secured perfect scores. These accomplishments are particularly noteworthy given the unusual nature of this year's assessment process.
Due to regional instability linked to the conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran, final IB exams were officially cancelled across the UAE and the wider Gulf region. To ensure students were not disadvantaged, the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) collaborated with the UAE Ministry of Education to implement the Non-Exam Contingency Measure (NECM). While the method of assessment differed from the traditional format, the strong performance of UAE students reflects their hard work throughout the academic year, with official results now accessible via the IB candidate portal as of July 6.
