Abu Dhabi Launches New Initiative to Help Drivers Clear Traffic Points

Tue, Jul 7, 2026(45d ago)UAE

Abu Dhabi Police has introduced a fresh initiative under their "Smart Road Security" program, providing motorists with a practical way to manage and reduce their accumulated traffic violations. A dedicated in-person platform has been established at the Zayed Central Library in Al Ain, specifically designed to help drivers clear points and regain their driving privileges. This effort reflects the authority's commitment to improving road safety while offering a structured pathway for those who have faced license suspensions or heavy penalties.

For drivers who have hit the 24-point threshold, the service offers a route to retrieve their licenses by enrolling in a specialized qualifying course and paying a fee of Dh2,400. Additionally, those with between 8 and 23 points can take advantage of a reduction of 8 points by registering, paying Dh800, and completing the required training. Beyond simply clearing records, officials emphasize that these courses are vital for educating drivers on traffic laws, ultimately aiming to foster safer driving habits and reduce the frequency of accidents across the emirate.
