Dubai Drivers Face Dh400 Fine for Improper Horn Use
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and local police have issued a stern reminder to motorists regarding the responsible use of vehicle horns. Officials emphasized that a car’s horn is strictly a safety instrument designed for emergency situations, such as alerting others to imminent danger, signaling a driver who hasn't noticed your vehicle, or managing urgent scenarios on the road. Using it for any other purpose is not only considered poor driving etiquette but is also a significant contributor to urban noise pollution.
Motorists are being urged to exercise extra caution in noise-sensitive areas like school zones, hospitals, and residential neighborhoods, where excessive honking causes unnecessary distress. Authorities have made it clear that those caught abusing their horns could face a penalty of Dh400 and four black points. This enforcement initiative is part of a larger government strategy to foster a more respectful, disciplined, and peaceful driving environment for everyone across the emirate.
