From Near-Fatal E-Bike Accident to UAE Service: An Inspiring Recovery

Sat, Jul 18, 2026(4h ago)UAE

What began as a simple joyride on an e-bike in late 2023 nearly cost an Emirati teenager his life. After being thrown from the bike, the young man suffered a severe brain injury, leading to a life-threatening hemorrhage that required emergency intervention at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi. He underwent a series of complex surgeries, including a craniectomy to relieve intracranial pressure and a tracheostomy to assist with breathing. Following a harrowing recovery process marred by complications like sepsis and fluid leaks, his medical team managed to stabilize him, marking the beginning of a long and difficult road to recovery.

Despite the odds, the teen’s resilience proved remarkable. After regaining his consciousness and undergoing intensive rehabilitation, he refused to allow the accident to derail his ambitions. He dedicated himself to his studies, eventually catching up on the two and a half years of schooling he had lost due to his health struggles. Having officially graduated from high school this past June, the 18-year-old is now in good health and eagerly preparing to enlist in the UAE National Service, ready to honor his commitment to the nation he fought so hard to remain a part of.
