Sharjah Police Issue Stern Warning After Dramatic Highway Collision

Sat, Jul 18, 2026(4h ago)UAE

The Sharjah Police recently released alarming footage from their operations center, serving as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by reckless lane changes. In the video, a motorist attempts a dangerous maneuver, cutting across two lanes in a desperate bid to reach an exit. The reckless move results in a collision with a four-wheel-drive vehicle, causing the car to lose control and skid violently over the road divider.

This incident underscores a growing crisis on UAE roads, where sudden swerving has officially been identified as the leading cause of traffic accidents. Official data from the Ministry of Interior reveals that out of 6,014 accidents recorded in 2025, over 900 were triggered by drivers swerving abruptly—often due to impatience or missing an exit at the last second. Authorities are now urging motorists to prioritize road safety and remain vigilant, as these preventable errors continue to account for a significant portion of the country's crash statistics.
