Abu Dhabi Police Remind E-Scooter Riders of Essential Safety Rules

Sat, Jul 18, 2026(4h ago)UAE

The Abu Dhabi Police have once again emphasized the importance of rider safety as the popularity of electric bicycles and scooters continues to grow. To prevent avoidable accidents and protect lives, authorities are urging commuters to strictly follow established traffic regulations. This push for safety follows a series of recent awareness campaigns, including visual demonstrations on social media, aimed at highlighting the grave dangers associated with reckless riding. Riders are reminded that failure to adhere to these safety standards can lead to official penalties.

To ensure a safe commuting environment, the police have outlined nine critical guidelines that all e-scooter users must follow. These include the mandatory use of protective gear like helmets and pads, staying within designated bike lanes, and avoiding public roads meant for cars. Furthermore, riders must remain alert by keeping their phones and earbuds stowed away, obeying all traffic signals, and keeping their vehicles well-maintained. By riding cautiously in pedestrian-heavy zones and avoiding stunts, users can play a vital role in keeping Abu Dhabi's streets safe for everyone.
