UAE probes false Dubai explosion reports

Sun, Jul 19, 2026(46d ago)UAE

The UAE Public Prosecution has widened its inquiry into the recent spread of misinformation regarding supposed explosions in central Dubai. UAE Attorney-General Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi confirmed that authorities are actively investigating those behind the creation and dissemination of the unfounded report. As part of this process, investigators have already questioned the reporter involved and summoned senior staff responsible for the editorial oversight, approval, and publication of the content.

The primary goal of this probe is to determine whether the agency adhered to necessary legal and professional standards regarding information verification. Although the news outlet has since retracted the story and issued a formal apology, the Attorney-General emphasized that these actions do not absolve the organization of potential legal consequences. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities intend to hold all responsible parties accountable based on the final findings of the case.
