UAE Non-Oil Trade Hits Near-Record Dh2 Trillion Milestone

Mon, Jul 20, 2026(17h ago)UAE

The UAE has reached a significant economic milestone in the first half of 2026, with non-oil foreign trade climbing to Dh1.937 trillion—a 13.1 percent year-on-year increase that inches the nation toward the historic Dh2 trillion mark. This surge, highlighted by record-breaking non-oil exports of Dh452.8 billion, serves as powerful evidence of the country’s successful transition away from hydrocarbon dependency. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum hailed the performance as “exceptional,” noting that these figures reflect not just statistics, but the global community’s deep-seated trust in the UAE’s resilient and forward-thinking economic environment.

This growth is largely fueled by the country's strategic focus on Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (Cepas) and an expanding global logistics footprint. By strengthening trade ties with key partners like China, Switzerland, and India, the UAE is effectively diversifying its economic base, with gold, telecommunications, and high-value manufactured goods leading the way. Experts suggest that the nation has moved beyond merely setting diversification goals; it is now reaping the benefits of a mature, innovation-led ecosystem. Looking ahead, the focus is shifting toward leveraging advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology to move up the value chain, cementing the UAE's status as a top-tier hub for sustainable global trade and industry.
