In response, major platforms like Careem and Talabat have implemented strict operational changes, including a cap of three orders per rider during these hours, with a total delivery window restricted to 60 minutes. Careem has updated its dispatch software to enforce a "safety-first pace," automatically adjusting delivery estimates for customers to ensure riders are not under undue pressure. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has made it clear that no rider can be forced to work during these hours, and foot deliveries are strictly prohibited to avoid heat-related risks.

Beyond limiting workloads, companies are prioritizing rider welfare by providing access to thousands of air-conditioned rest stations. Talabat has integrated interactive maps into its app to help riders quickly find the nearest cooling facility, while Careem tracks station usage and gathers real-time feedback to optimize support. To further bolster these efforts, both platforms have introduced comprehensive summer safety programs that include providing electrolytes, organizing community-focused hydration events, and offering free health check-ups. By combining these logistical restrictions with proactive wellness initiatives and medical support partnerships, the industry is working to ensure that the health of delivery workers remains the top priority throughout the peak summer season.
