Preparing Emirati Students for Global Success: Abu Dhabi's New Readiness Initiative

Tue, Jul 21, 2026(45d ago)UAE

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek) has launched an intensive "Onboarding and Readiness Accelerator Program" to equip 110 Emirati scholarship students with the essential life skills needed for university life abroad. Moving far beyond traditional academics, the initiative focuses on practical pillars such as financial literacy, online safety, and cross-cultural representation. By collaborating with international embassies and various strategic partners, Adek ensures these students are not only prepared for the challenges of independent living but also empowered to serve as proud ambassadors for the UAE on the global stage.

The programme emphasizes a holistic, long-term approach, offering guidance that spans from the pre-departure phase to post-graduation career placement. By connecting current students with alumni who share real-world experiences, the initiative fosters a strong sense of community and resilience. As Fatma Al Foulathi, Acting Executive Director of Higher Education at Adek, noted, the goal is to help students thrive during their studies and eventually return home to contribute their newfound global expertise to Abu Dhabi’s key priority sectors, ensuring a seamless transition back into the local workforce.
