Sharjah’s Firefighting Revolution: New Rapid-Response Motorcycles Hit the Streets

Wed, Jul 22, 2026(4h ago)UAE

To better navigate Sharjah’s bustling streets and bypass heavy traffic during emergencies, the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority has unveiled a new fleet of firefighting motorcycles. These agile vehicles are designed to reach the scene of an incident quickly, allowing first responders to initiate critical firefighting measures before larger trucks arrive. This initiative is particularly vital during the summer months, when rising temperatures frequently lead to electrical failures and overloaded air-conditioning systems, increasing the likelihood of fire outbreaks across the emirate.

Beyond this mobile innovation, Sharjah is doubling down on its commitment to public safety through a blend of technological upgrades and building infrastructure improvements. The General Directorate of Prevention and Protection has ramped up field inspections to ensure that safety equipment meets strict quality standards, while the government is integrating Artificial Intelligence to better monitor building resilience. Furthermore, the emirate continues its ambitious Dh100 million project to replace hazardous building facades with modern, fire-resistant materials, targeting a total of 40 buildings to significantly lower the risk of future disasters.
