Flydubai Expands Syrian Presence with New Aleppo Service

Wed, Jul 22, 2026(45d ago)UAE

After a 14-year hiatus, flydubai has officially resumed operations to Aleppo, marking the carrier’s second destination in Syria alongside Damascus. The inaugural flight was celebrated with a traditional water cannon salute upon arrival, signaling the start of a new daily, non-stop service to Aleppo International Airport. This expansion is designed to better serve the significant community of Syrian nationals living in the UAE, offering a more efficient travel alternative compared to previous indirect routes, especially as regional connectivity to the country continues to grow.

The addition of this route follows a broader trend of airlines resuming services to Syria, with carriers like Air Arabia and Emirates also strengthening their presence in the region. According to Hamad Obaidalla, flydubai’s Chief Commercial Officer, the strong demand witnessed since the carrier’s return to Damascus last year underscored the need for this expansion. By linking Dubai to such a historic commercial hub, flydubai aims to boost trade and tourism while providing travelers with greater flexibility, further cementing the airline's commitment to connecting underserved markets across its global network.
