Abu Dhabi has officially launched a state-of-the-art Waterway Monitoring and Control Centre, marking a significant advancement in the emirate’s maritime safety infrastructure. Spearheaded by the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Maritime and the National Guard, the facility is designed to oversee more than 45,000 square kilometres of water. By utilizing predictive analytics and real-time smart systems, the centre ensures seamless coordination of marine traffic, public maritime services, and the management of thousands of navigational aids and sensors across the region.

Headquartered on Saadiyat Island with a satellite branch in Al Dhannah, the centre serves as a comprehensive hub for maritime oversight. It actively manages over 1,500 public berths, regulates recreational watercraft, and oversees essential operations like debris clearing and ferry dispatch. With a robust support network—including new patrol boats, an extensive array of CCTV and radar stations, and sophisticated VHF communication devices—the initiative aims to set a new benchmark for smart surveillance. By modernizing maritime mobility and emergency response times, the facility reinforces Abu Dhabi’s strategic goal of becoming a premier global maritime destination.
