Sharjah’s New Integrated Approach to Early Childhood Education

Wed, Jul 22, 2026(45d ago)UAE

Sharjah is set to revolutionize its educational landscape by launching specialized Early Childhood Centres that seamlessly combine nursery and kindergarten facilities under one roof. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, announced that this initiative aims to solve the transition challenges faced by children moving from nurseries into primary schooling. To facilitate this shift, the government is expediting the addition of kindergarten classrooms to existing nurseries, ensuring a smooth academic journey for students. The plan is scheduled to roll out in three phases starting in August 2026, eventually accommodating over 3,000 children across 47 government-run nurseries.

Beyond the educational reforms, the Ruler highlighted significant infrastructure and heritage projects across the emirate. The historic Al Mansour Fort in Khorfakkan is nearing completion and is expected to become a major cultural landmark, while adjustments are being made to the Kalba lake project to improve water management and infrastructure resilience. Furthermore, ongoing developments in areas like Al Madam and the Al Soor district underscore Sharjah's commitment to urban modernization. These projects collectively reflect a broader strategy to enhance local facilities and foster a deeper sense of national pride among residents.
