Empowering UAE Youth: The New ‘Ghatareef’ National Readiness Programme

Fri, Jul 24, 2026(45d ago)UAE

The UAE has officially launched "Ghatareef," an ambitious national initiative designed to prepare young Emiratis for the workforce through a comprehensive 11-month curriculum. Spearheaded by the Federal Youth Authority, the program acts as a vital bridge between high school and higher education, focusing on five core pillars: brain development, learning, well-being, culture, and mastery. By blending traditional values with modern technical training, the initiative ensures that graduates are not only culturally grounded but also equipped with the specialized skills necessary to thrive in the country’s evolving priority sectors.

The program is structured across three distinct phases, emphasizing a hands-on approach where 60% of the training occurs in laboratories and simulation centers. Participants can choose between specialized tracks in defense, healthcare, or sustainability, all while benefiting from a monthly allowance and the ability to earn university credits. Furthermore, the program offers significant flexibility; eligible participants may even count their completion of Ghatareef toward their national service requirements. As the initiative gains momentum, it promises to be a cornerstone of the UAE’s long-term investment in human capital, fostering a generation of leaders ready to contribute to the nation’s future.
