UAE Denounces Houthi Assault on Saudi Vessel in Red Sea
The United Arab Emirates has issued a firm condemnation following a recent attack by Houthi militants on the Encelia, a Saudi-flagged vessel navigating the Red Sea. In an official statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized the incident as a serious provocation that jeopardizes global maritime security and threatens the stability of vital shipping lanes. Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, officials warned that such aggressive actions represent a dangerous escalation in the region.
Calling for urgent global intervention, the UAE urged the international community to enforce key UN Security Council mandates, specifically those regarding the conflict in Yemen and the protection of navigation rights in the Red Sea. The ministry reiterated that the freedom of passage through international waters is a fundamental right protected by the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. Furthermore, the UAE pledged its unwavering support to Saudi Arabia, affirming its backing of any measures taken by the Kingdom to ensure its national security and regional safety.
