Navigating Saudi Arabia’s New Visa Landscape for Umrah

Fri, Jul 24, 2026(13h ago)UAE

With the introduction of a new one-year multiple-entry Umrah visa, UAE residents now have four distinct ways to travel to Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage. This variety, while beneficial, has left many travelers unsure which option fits their needs best. Travel experts emphasize that the choice should depend on the frequency of travel and whether the trip is strictly for religious purposes or includes sightseeing. While the new dedicated Umrah visa allows for multiple visits over a year with a total stay of 90 days, tourist visas remain a flexible alternative for those who wish to combine their pilgrimage with leisure activities across the Kingdom.

Regardless of the visa category selected, agents stress that administrative compliance is non-negotiable. Every traveler must complete the necessary registrations through the Nusuk platform to secure their Umrah slots and, if applicable, appointments for the Rawdah in Madinah. While pilgrims have the freedom to book their own flights and accommodations, they must provide updated travel details for each visit—even those holding the annual multiple-entry visa—to ensure their documentation remains valid and their entry into Saudi Arabia proceeds without delays.
