To manage the massive influx of passengers during the peak summer travel season, Dubai International Airport (DXB) has launched a convenient “Smart Gates Eligibility Pre-Check” tool. Developed in partnership with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), this digital feature allows travelers to verify their eligibility for biometric Smart Gates before they reach immigration. By removing the uncertainty surrounding manual processing, the initiative aims to streamline the passenger experience and significantly reduce wait times at the world’s busiest international airport.

Accessing the service is incredibly simple and requires no extra software or app downloads. Travelers can navigate to the “Pocket Flights” portal or scan QR codes placed throughout the terminals to check their status instantly by scanning their passport page. Once verified, eligible passengers—including residents, GCC nationals, and visa-on-arrival guests—can breeze through the automated gates in seconds. This move is part of Dubai's broader strategy to enhance travel efficiency, building on the success of biometric systems that have already processed millions of passengers this year and cut immigration clearance times down to just a few seconds.
