Dubai Police Nab Trafficker Hiding in Airport Transit for 45 Days

Fri, Jul 24, 2026(8h ago)UAE

In a remarkable display of investigative persistence, Dubai Police successfully apprehended a drug trafficker who had been camping out in the Dubai International Airport’s transit zone for 45 days. Brigadier Khalid bin Muwaiza, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, revealed that the suspect believed he could evade law enforcement by never officially entering the country. However, undercover teams closely monitored his activities and communications as he attempted to coordinate the distribution of a hidden cache of narcotics already stashed within the emirate. The operation culminated in the suspect's arrest just as he began arranging for his illicit supply to be retrieved and sold to buyers.

This case highlights the sophisticated, intelligence-led approach Dubai authorities employ to dismantle complex criminal networks. Beyond simple surveillance, the department emphasizes the importance of analyzing travel patterns, international connections, and the evolving tactics used by traffickers. Brigadier Khalid noted that these efforts are critical, as the department works to break the cycle of addiction that often leads users to become traffickers themselves. By leveraging global cooperation and meticulous, long-term investigations—including a four-year pursuit of a major international trafficker—the Dubai Police continue to adapt their strategies to neutralize threats before narcotics can ever reach the community.
