New Dubai Road Infrastructure Set to Slash Commute Times by 75 Percent

Sun, Jul 26, 2026(3h ago)UAE

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reached a major milestone in its infrastructure expansion, with the Oud Metha and Al Asayel Streets Development Project now 90 percent finished. A key highlight of this progress is the recent opening of a new three-lane bridge, which provides a direct link from Al Khail Road toward Al Asayel Street via Al Wasl Club Street. Capable of handling 3,600 vehicles per hour, this bridge is part of a larger effort to streamline traffic across the city, ultimately expected to reduce travel times on this vital corridor from 20 minutes down to just five.

Beyond the recently opened bridge, the RTA has scheduled the completion of two additional tunnels and a second bridge for late August to further optimize traffic flow. Once fully operational, the project will have upgraded four major intersections and added 14 kilometers of road, significantly increasing capacity in densely populated areas like Zabeel, Al Jaddaf, and Oud Metha. By improving access to essential locations such as Latifa Hospital and Al Wasl Club, this initiative is designed to support the needs of a growing population projected to reach 420,000 residents by 2030, ensuring a smoother and more efficient commuting experience for years to come.
