New Tunnel Links Dubai-Al Ain Road to Oud Metha Service Road
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has officially opened a new single-lane tunnel designed to streamline traffic between the Dubai–Al Ain Road and the Oud Metha Service Road. Stretching 260 metres in length, this infrastructure addition is capable of handling up to 1,200 vehicles every hour. By providing a direct connection, the tunnel aims to alleviate congestion and ensure a more efficient, seamless experience for motorists navigating this busy area.
This development is a key component of the ongoing Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street Improvement Project, which was nearing completion as of late July. Beyond the new tunnel, the extensive project encompasses 4.3 kilometres of new bridges and 14 kilometres of roadway upgrades. Once fully operational, these enhancements are expected to boost the total capacity of Oud Metha Road by 50 per cent, marking a significant step forward in Dubai’s efforts to modernize its urban transit network.
