Khor Fakkan Port Set to Welcome Record Shipment of BYD Electric Vehicles
Khor Fakkan Port is gearing up to welcome a massive roll-on/roll-off vessel transporting 6,068 new energy vehicles from Chinese automotive giant BYD. This delivery marks the inaugural voyage of a new direct maritime freight route originating from the Xiaomo International Logistics Port in Shenzhen. By establishing this dedicated connection, the transit time for goods moving from China to the UAE and the broader Middle East is expected to shrink by three to five days, significantly streamlining the supply chain and minimizing the logistical challenges often associated with transporting heavy machinery and vehicles.
This strategic expansion follows a record-breaking performance at China’s Xiaomo port, which processed its largest-ever single vehicle shipment for this specific operation. Locally, the Khor Fakkan commercial terminal—managed by Gulftainer—continues to demonstrate impressive efficiency, handling nearly 25,000 vehicles in the first eight months of this year alone. Thanks to the facility's specialized "Discharge and Drive" model, the port has achieved a high-speed turnaround, allowing for the full clearance and removal of vehicles from its yards within just 96 hours.
