Dubai’s New Al Qudra Bridge Set to Dramatically Reduce Commute Times

Sun, Aug 9, 2026(1h ago)UAE

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially opened a new four-lane bridge at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, marking a significant milestone in the city's ongoing infrastructure upgrades. This 700-metre structure is designed to ease bottlenecks, with projections indicating that wait times at this busy junction will plummet from seven minutes down to just one. By more than doubling the intersection's capacity from 7,800 to 19,400 vehicles per hour, the RTA aims to provide much-needed relief for the thousands of residents living in surrounding communities like Arabian Ranches, DAMAC Hills, and Dubai Motor City.

This project is part of a larger, comprehensive strategy to modernize the Al Qudra corridor, which will see further enhancements finalized by late 2026, including additional ramp bridges to ensure seamless traffic flow. Beyond these bridges, the RTA is also constructing several kilometres of service roads to better connect residential hubs and arterial routes. Ultimately, these collective improvements are expected to slash total travel times along the corridor by 70 per cent. By expanding road capacity and streamlining navigation, the city is effectively future-proofing its infrastructure to support the rapid pace of urban growth while significantly improving the daily quality of life for over 400,000 commuters and visitors.
