Planning Your 2027 UAE Holidays: What to Expect and How to Maximize Your Time

Tue, Aug 11, 2026(2h ago)UAE

As residents in the UAE begin looking ahead to 2027, mapping out potential public holidays is a smart way to maximize time off and secure the best travel deals. While many dates remain subject to the official sighting of the moon—as is traditional for Islamic holidays—astronomical projections offer a helpful framework for scheduling. Keep in mind that while the UAE Cabinet occasionally moves holidays to create longer breaks, these shifts do not apply to fixed religious observances like Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha, nor can holidays be reassigned if they fall on a weekend or coincide with another public holiday.

The 2027 calendar looks particularly promising, with several opportunities for extended leaves. For instance, Eid Al Fitr could potentially offer up to a six-day break if Ramadan lasts 30 days, while the UAE’s 56th National Day (Eid Al Etihad) is set to create a four-day weekend in December. By strategically combining these public holidays with short annual leave requests—such as taking a few days around the Eid breaks or the start of the year—employees can transform standard time off into substantial vacations. Remember that if you are required to work during a public holiday, UAE labor law mandates either compensatory time off or additional pay, ensuring your rights remain protected while you plan your well-deserved rest.
