Dubai Launches ‘Virtual Workspace’ to Boost Government Flexibility

Tue, Aug 11, 2026(47m ago)UAE

The Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) has officially introduced its new "Virtual Workspace" initiative, a strategic move developed in collaboration with Microsoft to modernize the public sector. By leveraging cutting-edge artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure, the project aims to create a highly flexible and secure work environment for government staff. According to Khalifa Bin Humaidan, Director of the Support Services Department at DGHR, this transition is a vital step toward ensuring business continuity while aligning with Dubai’s broader vision of fostering a sustainable, tech-driven government that empowers employees to work efficiently from anywhere.

This initiative provides significant advantages by allowing staff to access essential files and systems securely, regardless of their location. Beyond convenience, the program optimizes IT operations by simplifying device management and reducing the need for constant hardware upgrades, which leads to both cost savings and a lower environmental footprint. By centralizing deployment and enhancing digital governance, the Virtual Workspace not only makes the government more agile but also supports long-term sustainability goals by minimizing electronic waste and extending the life of existing technical equipment.
