Sharjah Police have apprehended a truck driver who attempted to bypass traffic enforcement by smearing mud over his vehicle's license plate. The driver allegedly used this tactic to conceal his identity while operating his heavy vehicle in restricted zones where such trucks are prohibited. Thanks to the emirate's sophisticated network of surveillance cameras and advanced digital monitoring systems, law enforcement was able to successfully track the vehicle and locate the individual responsible.

Authorities have issued a stern warning that any attempt to tamper with license plates or evade traffic laws will be met with strict legal consequences. Under the updated Federal Decree-Law No. 14 of 2024, individuals caught distorting or altering license plate data face severe penalties, including imprisonment and a minimum fine of Dh20,000. Officials are urging all motorists—particularly those operating heavy machinery—to strictly follow designated routes and traffic regulations to ensure the safety of all road users and prevent avoidable accidents.
