Traffic Relief on Sheikh Zayed Road: New Lane Opens Near Dubai Mall
To help manage the city’s growing population and keep traffic moving smoothly, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially expanded a two-kilometre section of Sheikh Zayed Road. A brand-new lane has been added to the highway specifically for motorists traveling from Abu Dhabi toward the World Trade Centre Intersection, right by the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro station.
This project is part of a much larger, ongoing initiative by the RTA to upgrade major thoroughfares throughout the city. By enhancing key sections of Dubai’s busiest highways, the authority aims to reduce congestion and improve overall road capacity. This effort follows a successful infrastructure update on Latifa bint Hamdan Street, where the addition of a new lane and two U-turns has already helped slash travel delays by as much as 30 percent.
