A brilliant biomedical engineering student from Ajman University, Nasima Mohammed Helal, has created an innovative AI-powered app called "Suhba" to assist pilgrims during Hajj and Umrah. Drawing from her childhood experiences in Saudi Arabia, Helal recognized that language barriers can turn minor medical issues into life-threatening emergencies amidst the vast, multicultural crowds. The app allows users to input their symptoms in their native language—including Arabic, Bangla, and Urdu—to receive an immediate assessment of the situation. It also generates an Arabic SOS card that helps users clearly convey their medical needs to first responders and provides navigation to the nearest Red Crescent facility.

Developed during the Kanz AI Hackathon, Suhba is designed with a strong focus on patient safety, prioritizing connections to professional medical care rather than attempting to provide independent diagnoses. While the project is currently in the prototype stage, Helal is focused on the next steps of clinical validation and real-world testing to ensure its reliability. She hopes that by integrating verified health guidelines and partnering with medical experts, the platform can eventually serve as a vital tool for preventive healthcare, ensuring that pilgrims receive timely support during critical moments of their spiritual journey.
