Abu Dhabi's 5GW UAE-US AI Campus remains on schedule despite regional tensions

Thu, Aug 13, 2026(2h ago)UAE

Despite ongoing regional instability, development of the ambitious 5GW UAE-US AI Campus in Abu Dhabi has pushed forward without interruption. According to Greg Jasmin, Chief Commercial Officer at Khazna Data Centers, the project’s success during this challenging period is largely due to proactive supply chain management. By securing and moving critical equipment to the site well before regional disruptions occurred, the team ensured that construction remained steady. This foresight allowed Khazna to maintain its timeline, with the first 200MW of capacity expected to be ready for clients by 2026. Jasmin noted that in his three decades in the industry, he has never witnessed a project of this magnitude move at such an accelerated pace.

Beyond physical construction, the project has served as a stress test for broader operational resilience. As global customers expressed concerns regarding the stability of UAE infrastructure, Khazna reaffirmed its commitment to the build, highlighting that all of its existing data centers continued to operate without a single glitch throughout the recent unrest. Looking ahead, the company is scaling its internal capabilities through its NexOps division, which manages a rapidly growing network of facilities. By transitioning to an in-house, AI-monitored operational model, Khazna aims to manage the immense complexities of these massive AI clusters, proving to the global market that their infrastructure is designed to withstand both regional pressures and the technical demands of next-generation computing.
