As the UAE prepares for the start of the new academic year on August 31, the Ministry of Interior is bringing back its popular "Accident-Free Day" campaign. This nationwide initiative offers motorists a valuable incentive: by signing a safety pledge and committing to incident-free driving on the first day of school, participants can have four black points removed from their driving records. Registration for this effort begins on August 17, and the program is open to all road users across the country who wish to help make the roads safer as students return to the classroom.

To qualify for the point reduction, drivers must register via the Ministry’s official social media channels and strictly adhere to traffic laws throughout the day. This includes maintaining safe distances, observing speed limits—especially near school zones—avoiding mobile phone use, and prioritizing pedestrian safety. Officials emphasize that while the initiative aims to manage the surge in traffic during the back-to-school period, the ultimate goal is to encourage motorists to adopt these safe driving behaviors as a permanent, daily habit rather than just a one-day commitment.
