Dubai Municipality Cracks Down on Illegal Wastewater Dumping

Tue, Aug 18, 2026(5h ago)UAE

Dubai Municipality has launched a strict enforcement campaign targeting tankers caught illegally discharging wastewater in non-designated areas. Under existing local regulations, specifically Resolution No. 14 of 2015, such actions are strictly prohibited to ensure public health and environmental safety. Drivers and companies found violating these rules face severe consequences, including the immediate impoundment of their vehicles and substantial financial penalties reaching up to Dh100,000.

The municipality’s crackdown is part of a broader initiative to maintain public cleanliness and protect the city's infrastructure. The regulatory framework outlines various fines for environmental negligence, ranging from Dh1,000 for littering in public spaces to Dh50,000 for unauthorized disposal of construction materials or concrete spills on public roads. By enforcing these high-stakes penalties, authorities aim to deter improper waste management and ensure that all industrial and liquid waste is handled exclusively through approved, safe channels.
