Dubai’s Al Marabea’ Street Gets Traffic Boost, Cutting Commute Times by 30%
Commuters navigating through Al Quoz are set for a smoother ride following the Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) recent upgrades to a critical 1.1-kilometre stretch of Al Marabea’ Street. By widening the road and adding a new lane at the intersection heading toward Street 16A, the RTA has successfully boosted road capacity by 30% and slashed peak-hour travel times by the same margin. These targeted improvements have also helped reduce vehicle queues at major junctions by half, further supported by the installation of modern lighting to enhance visibility and safety for night-time drivers.
This initiative is part of the RTA’s broader strategy to tackle congestion through localized, rapid improvements rather than solely relying on massive highway construction. Following a successful year that saw 67 similar traffic measures implemented across Dubai, the authority is planning over 45 additional interventions for 2026. Ongoing developments at Al Marabea’ Street, including the addition of new service roads and pedestrian pathways, are scheduled for completion by late August 2026, marking another step in the city’s commitment to optimizing its existing road network for a growing population.
