Etihad Rail’s New Passenger Network Set to Transform UAE Travel
The upcoming launch of the Etihad Rail passenger service marks a significant turning point for the United Arab Emirates, with the Hilal City station in Fujairah serving as a vital link in a national network connecting 11 cities. According to Adhraa Almansoori, Executive Director of Commercial at Etihad Rail, this infrastructure project is designed to be more than just a transit hub; it is a gateway to the northern emirates that will stimulate tourism and reshape regional investment in sectors ranging from education to real estate. By integrating major landmarks and airports into one cohesive system, the network aims to fundamentally change how residents and tourists navigate the country.
Beginning in 2026, the phased rollout of these high-speed trains will prioritize both efficiency and passenger comfort. With travel speeds reaching up to 200 km/h, the journey between Dubai and Fujairah will be slashed to just 69 minutes, while the trip from Abu Dhabi will take roughly 105 minutes. Beyond the time savings, the stations have been crafted with sustainability and user experience in mind, featuring locally sourced materials and modern amenities like high-speed Wi-Fi and family-oriented seating. By providing a stress-free alternative to road travel, Etihad Rail expects to serve 10 million passengers annually, offering a modern, productive, and comfortable way to experience the UAE.
