Etihad Airways Makes History as First Airline to Accept Jaywan Cards

Thu, Aug 20, 2026(5h ago)UAE

Etihad Airways has officially become the first airline to integrate the UAE’s domestic payment scheme, Jaywan, into its booking platform. UAE-based travelers can now use their Jaywan cards directly on etihad.com to purchase flights across the airline's entire global network. This move marks a significant milestone in the rollout of the national card system, which was introduced by Al Etihad Payments—a subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAE—to streamline domestic transactions.

Beyond simple payment processing, this partnership promises to deliver exclusive perks for travelers in the near future. Etihad Guest members who hold Jaywan Royal cards are set to enjoy special privileges, including priority access and discounted rates on Comfort and Deluxe fares. As the UAE continues to push for the widespread adoption of the Jaywan system to boost national tourism and support the goals of the National Tourism Strategy 2031, this collaboration signals a broader shift toward making local digital payments a seamless part of the everyday travel experience.
