UAE Facilitates Major Prisoner Swap Between Russia and Ukraine

Thu, Aug 20, 2026(5h ago)UAE

The United Arab Emirates has successfully brokered another significant prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine, securing the release of 103 captives from each nation. This latest operation, which marks the 26th successful mediation effort by the UAE, brings the total number of individuals returned home through these diplomatic channels to nearly 8,000.

The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude toward both Moscow and Kyiv for their continued cooperation, highlighting the nation’s role as a trusted international partner. By prioritizing peaceful dialogue and humanitarian relief for refugees and detainees, the Emirates remains steadfast in its commitment to de-escalating the ongoing conflict and fostering stability in the region.
