Abu Dhabi Parks and Beaches Reopen Following Adverse Weather

Sat, Aug 22, 2026(1h ago)UAE

Public parks, recreational spots, and beaches across Abu Dhabi have officially reopened their doors after a brief closure caused by the recent spell of unstable weather. Municipal authorities initially shuttered these sites as a proactive safety measure, prioritizing the well-being of residents as heavy rains and erratic conditions swept through various parts of the emirate, including Al Ain. Footage circulating on social media captured the intensity of the downpour, showing streets transformed into waterlogged paths and vehicles carefully navigating through the stormy conditions.

In addition to the closures, local authorities and police forces took significant steps to manage road safety, implementing reduced speed limits on major highways and advising the public to steer clear of flood-prone areas like wadis. While the National Centre of Meteorology had predicted unsettled weather throughout the day, conditions have now stabilized, allowing for the resumption of normal outdoor activities. Motorists are still being encouraged to drive with extra caution and adhere to safety guidelines to ensure a smooth transition back to regular routines as the weather clears across the UAE.
