UAE Residents Experience Refreshing Weekend Rains
Many parts of the UAE kicked off the weekend with a welcome change in weather, as overcast skies and cooler temperatures replaced the lingering summer heat. Residents in Al Ain experienced a significant shift in conditions, with social media footage capturing everything from light drizzles to heavy downpours along the Khatm Al Shiklah Road. Meanwhile, areas in Fujairah also saw intermittent showers, fulfilling the National Center of Meteorologyâs earlier forecast of cumulus cloud formations and potential rainfall across the countryâs eastern and southern regions.
In response to the wet conditions, Abu Dhabi Police proactively adjusted traffic safety measures by activating speed reduction systems on several major routes. Commuters on roads such as Sweihan-Nahel and Al Faya-Al Khatim were required to slow down to 80 km/h to ensure road safety amidst the rain. As the country gradually transitions away from the peak summer season, these isolated showers serve as a pleasant relief, with meteorological experts anticipating continued mild to moderate rainfall in the coming days.
