Dubai Customs Gears Up for Back-to-School Travel Rush

Sat, Aug 22, 2026(1h ago)UAE

As families begin returning to Dubai to wrap up their summer holidays, local authorities are bracing for a significant surge in passenger traffic ahead of the upcoming academic year. To ensure a seamless transition for travelers, Dubai Customs has officially ramped up its operational capacity at airport entry points. This includes a 24/7 deployment of personnel and the activation of 77 advanced baggage screening machines—58 for large checked-in items and 19 for carry-on luggage—specifically designed to expedite the arrival process.

The "Back-to-Dubai" initiative utilizes a mix of cutting-edge digital services and high-tech inspection systems to keep airport lines moving quickly. By integrating these technical upgrades with round-the-clock staffing, customs officials aim to balance rigorous security requirements with the need for a swift, stress-free experience for returning residents. These proactive measures build on the authority's ongoing efforts throughout the summer, ensuring that even during the busiest travel windows, the flow of passengers remains efficient as schools prepare to reopen.
