Emirati Culture Takes Center Stage in the Heart of Moscow
The "Doorway to Abu Dhabi" festival is currently turning heads in Moscow’s Manezhnaya Square, offering residents and tourists a vibrant window into the rich traditions of the UAE. Running until August 23, 2026, the event has become a social media sensation, with videos capturing dancers in traditional Kanduras performing soulful Al-Ayyala and Al Harbiya routines against the backdrop of historic Russian architecture. Organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi with support from the Russian government, the festival serves as a brilliant exercise in cultural diplomacy, bringing the warmth and hospitality of the Emirates directly to the Russian capital.
Beyond the captivating dance performances, the festival functions as an immersive cultural hub featuring interactive pavilions that highlight the emirate’s history and craftsmanship. Visitors can get hands-on experience with ancient skills like palm-leaf weaving and embroidery at the House of Artisans, or dive into the region’s maritime roots through displays of pearl-diving tools and fishing traditions. Food remains a central attraction, with guests invited to sample authentic delicacies like luqaimat and madrouba, or learn the storied art of Arabic coffee preparation. With a 360-degree immersive dome offering virtual tours of Abu Dhabi’s famous landmarks, the free public event provides a comprehensive and engaging look at the UAE, inviting attendees to discover the destination ahead of their next holiday.
