Dubai Mallathon Sees Massive Turnout with 220 Million Steps Taken
The second edition of the Dubai Mallathon has proven to be a resounding success, drawing over 100,000 participants who have collectively logged a staggering 220 million steps. Launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this summer initiative cleverly turns the city's popular shopping malls into indoor, climate-controlled fitness hubs. By offering residents and visitors a comfortable space to walk or run between 6 am and 10 am, the program ensures that the intense summer heat doesn't put a stop to active lifestyles.
The initiative has grown significantly since it began on June 15, expanding its reach to include more venues like Gate Avenue at DIFC and Ibn Battuta Mall, while even branching out to Dubai International Airport for special sessions. This inclusivity has welcomed everyone from government officials and students to people of determination and families, perfectly aligning with the UAEâs focus on community well-being. With the event running through September 15, it continues to serve as a vital platform for people of all fitness levels to stay healthy and connected within Dubaiâs vibrant social landscape.
