Strengthening Energy Ties: Egypt and UAE Seek Expanded Oil and Gas Collaboration

Mon, Aug 24, 2026(1h ago)UAE

Egypt is aggressively pursuing a strategy to ramp up its domestic oil and gas output, with ADNOC Drilling emerging as a key potential partner in this initiative. During a recent meeting, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, held discussions with ADNOC Drilling CEO Abdullah Ateya Al Messabi to explore how the UAE-based firm’s specialized offshore and onshore expertise can support Egypt’s five-year energy roadmap. By integrating advanced drilling technologies and accelerating the development of new discoveries, the ministry aims to significantly boost the country’s production rates.

Minister Badawi emphasized that collaboration with experienced regional players like ADNOC Drilling is essential to achieving these ambitious goals. In response, Al Messabi expressed a strong commitment to expanding his company’s footprint in the Egyptian market, specifically highlighting plans to forge closer ties with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and the Egyptian Drilling Company. Both parties have agreed to host technical sessions in the near future to finalize how these partnerships will be structured to streamline drilling operations and maximize energy output across the region.
