The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has introduced the "Women Farmer Field Schools" program, a strategic initiative designed to equip Emirati women with essential, hands-on expertise in sustainable farming and apiary management. Launched under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the program seeks to bolster food security and provide women with the tools needed to succeed in modern agriculture. Starting in September, participants will receive practical instruction on critical topics, including greenhouse cultivation, pest control, irrigation techniques, and honey production, all of which are designed to enhance the long-term profitability and efficiency of their local agricultural projects.

Beyond technical cultivation skills, the initiative provides a holistic approach to farm management, offering training in record-keeping, economic evaluation, and the development of value-added products. By partnering with organizations like the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority and the FAO, the program ensures that participants gain both scientific knowledge and field-tested experience. This effort not only aims to elevate the role of women in the national economy but also aligns with broader goals for the Year of the Family 2026, fostering intergenerational knowledge sharing and promoting more sustainable food practices across the nation.
