Starting August 15, UAE families who currently receive social support are eligible for a new financial aid program offering up to Dh350,000 for home repairs following a crisis or disaster. Established under Cabinet Resolution No. 135 of 2026, this policy replaces the outdated 2008 framework and is specifically designed to cover damage to residences and essential household items, such as furniture and electrical appliances. To qualify, applicants must be UAE nationals and permanent residents, and they must provide an official damage report from local authorities confirming that the destruction was not caused by negligence or intentional acts.

The program includes a structured application process, requiring families to submit their claims to the Ministry of Community Empowerment within 30 days of an incident. Once a complete application is filed, the Ministry is committed to a seven-day response window. While the aid covers primary living necessities, it strictly excludes luxury or secondary items like jewelry, vehicles, and swimming pools. Furthermore, if a family has already received partial compensation from another entity, the Ministry may offer to bridge the gap, provided all documentation is transparent. Those who face a rejection or are dissatisfied with the assessment have 15 days to file a formal grievance to contest the decision.
