Sharjah Introduces New Law to Regulate Court Expertise

Tue, Aug 25, 2026(1h ago)UAE

The Ruler of Sharjah, Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, has officially enacted a new law designed to standardize the practice of court expertise across the emirate’s judicial authorities. This legislative move aims to bolster the integrity and accuracy of judicial proceedings by ensuring that only qualified professionals contribute to legal judgments. By formalizing the registration process for experts, the Judicial Department intends to expedite litigation, foster higher ethical standards, and empower local talent to play a more active role within the legal system.

The new framework requires all court experts and specialized firms to be officially registered within specific categories managed by the Judicial Department, ranging from practicing and trainee experts to specialized government entities. While the law mandates registration as a prerequisite for practice, it allows for flexibility in cases where parties mutually agree on an external expert or when a court deems it necessary to appoint an unregistered professional or government body. To maintain high standards, the law also outlines comprehensive regulations regarding the rights, responsibilities, and disciplinary procedures for experts, ensuring a transparent and accountable environment for all judicial participants.
