Sharjah Ruler Announces New City Districts and Expanded Healthcare for Kalba

Wed, Aug 26, 2026(2h ago)UAE

In a major move to streamline urban development, the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, has officially restructured Khor Fakkan into four distinct administrative areas: Khor Fakkan city, Al Aweinat, Al Sayh, and Al Sabihiya. This comprehensive plan aims to transform the region by balancing modern residential development with environmental preservation. As part of the initiative, the government is committed to "greening" the landscape through strategic reforestation and the introduction of local wildlife, ensuring the area maintains its natural charm while neighborhoods are carefully carved into the mountainous terrain.

Simultaneously, healthcare infrastructure is receiving a significant boost to address overcrowding in existing clinics. The Sharjah government, in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, has fast-tracked plans to build new hospitals in Kalba, Khor Fakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn. These facilities will mirror the standards of the University Hospital, which is currently nearing completion. To ensure these services remain accessible and efficient, the Ruler emphasized that funding and planning are already underway, with the new hospitals expected to be operational within the next five to six months.
