UAE Prepares to Welcome Over One Million Students for New Academic Year
As the 2026–2027 academic year approaches, the UAE is gearing up to accommodate more than 1.067 million students across its network of over 1,180 schools. During a recent media briefing, Minister of Education Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri highlighted the immense scale of these preparations, noting that the country’s government schools are bracing for an influx of over 26,070 new pupils. To meet this growing demand and ensure a smooth start to the term, authorities have confirmed the opening of 10 new government institutions nationwide.
Logistical readiness remains a top priority for officials to ensure all students are well-supported from day one. Extensive efforts have been made over the summer, including the distribution of more than eight million textbooks to government schools and the preparation of over 5,028 school buses to manage daily transport. Furthermore, the ministry has invested heavily in human capital, rolling out educational resources for more than 80 training programs designed to sharpen teaching standards and enhance the overall learning environment for the year ahead.
