UAE Denounces Deadly Terrorist Attack and Mass Abduction in Nigeria

Thu, Aug 27, 2026(2h ago)UAE

The United Arab Emirates has issued a formal statement strongly denouncing the recent wave of violence in Nigeria, which saw dozens of individuals killed and a large group of civilians abducted. Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE expressed its absolute rejection of all forms of extremism and terrorism, emphasizing that such criminal actions pose a direct threat to regional stability and public safety. The ministry extended its deepest sympathies to the Nigerian government and its citizens, while calling for the safe and immediate release of the captives.

This humanitarian crisis follows a directive from Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, who has ordered security forces to initiate an urgent rescue mission in the north-central Niger State. Reports indicate that an armed faction circulated footage showing hundreds of women, children, and elderly residents taken captive during an assault on a local mosque. While the total number of victims is still being verified, the scale of this abduction has drawn significant international concern, marking one of the most alarming security breaches in the region in recent memory.
