Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that public parking will be free across the emirate on Friday, August 28, in observation of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday. This waiver applies to all public parking zones, though motorists should note that multi-storey parking facilities will continue to charge regular fees. Paid parking is set to resume as normal starting Saturday, August 29.

In addition to parking changes, the RTA has adjusted the operational hours for various public services. The Dubai Metro will run from 5am until 1am the following day, while the Tram will operate from 6am to 1am. While most Customer Happiness Centres and vehicle testing facilities will remain closed for the holiday, select locations—such as Umm Ramool and specific testing centers like Al Mutakamela—will stay open to assist the public. Commuters relying on buses or marine transport are encouraged to consult the RTA’s official channels or the Shail app to verify updated schedules before planning their travel.
